Raleigh, NC (December 6, 2016)- Since taking ownership of the club in late 2015, Steve Malik has been vocal about his ambitions for the club, and he announced on Tuesday that he will be taking the necessary steps to make those visions a reality.
Malik also announced an aggressive public campaign to be awarded an MLS franchise within the next 12-18 months. This desire comes after discussions with MLS executives over the last 12 months, as well as a market study which reinforced that the Triangle would be a successful MLS Market.
“We feel we are well positioned for this,” Malik said. “The market is ready for an MLS team based on our geographical location, population growth, dynamic economic environment and significant soccer participation."
Further details surrounding plans for MLS in the Triangle will be announced in 2017.
