The Carolina RailHawks and Lonerider Brewery unveiled Kupono Captain's Ale branding on Saturday, July 18th, during the 4th annual Pre-game Pig Pickin' Festival. The new RailHawks-branded beer will be available at all RailHawks 2015 home games, as well as selected retail outlets.
The Carolina RailHawks and Lonerider Brewery created a RailHawks-branded craft beer in March of this year. Fans and beer enthusiasts entered their suggestions to name the new beer that celebrates the spirit of soccer in North Carolina.
Fans across the Triangle had the opportunity to vote on several branding options at different community events held by Lonerider and the RailHawks during the last three months.
"We are extremely excited to develop a co-branded craft beer with our corporate partner, Lonerider Brewery," said RailHawks Senior Vice President, Pete Sciandra. "Both Lonerider and the RailHawks have experienced explosive growth over the past few years, and the joining of our strong brands to market a new craft beer is a natural combination that will resonate with our passionate and loyal fan base."
Lonerider Brewing Company has been brewing ales in its Raleigh headquarters for more than six years. Its current beer brands include Shotgun Betty, 2010 Great American Beer Festival gold medal winning, Sweet Josie, Peacemaker and 2011 Great American Beer Festival award winning, DeadEye Jack.
"I am glad that the RailHawks chose us as a partner to create a brew that would reflect the soccer culture in North Carolina,” said Lonerider Brewing Company CEO, Sumit Vohra. “Kupono Captain's Ale reflects the passion of RailHawks fans, both current and new."
The RailHawks will continue NASL play on Sunday, July 26th at 3:00 pm ET, as they travel to Canada to face off against Ottawa Fury FC. The match will be broadcast live on WRAL2 and on the radio at 99.9HD-3 The Ticket.
The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, August 1st at 7:30 pm to host the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Purchase your tickets here.
RailHawks flex plans for the remainder of the 2015 season are on-sale. Flex plans can be redeemed for tickets to any of the remaining NASL home matches and start at $55. The full RailHawks home schedule can be viewed here.
