
The Carolina RailHawks have signed defender Connor Tobin in anticipation of the 2014 North American Soccer League Season. Tobin joins the RailHawks on a multiyear deal and brings a wealth of experience the backline, pending U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Tobin comes to the RailHawks after two years of NASL experience playing for Minnesota United where he appeared in 34 matches and logged 2,710 minutes. In 2012, Tobin started all five playoff matches in Minnesota’s run to the NASL Championship Series.
Colin Clarke, RailHawks head coach, commented on the signing of Tobin. “Connor is a great addition to our team and has the ability to be a starting central defender in our league. In addition to his wealth of experience in the NASL, we know he will be a great addition on and off the field.”
Using the twitter handle @TurboTobin20, Tobin is active on twitter and was a fan favorite in his two years with Minnesota.
Tobin played collegiately at the University of Vermont, where he appeared in 77 matches, starting 76 matches. Tobin’s 77 matches is tied for 6th all-time in the University of Vermont Men’s soccer program. After his 4-year career, Tobin began his professional career in Norway for Nybergsund in 2009. The 26-year old, returned to the United States after two seasons in the Norwegian 1.Division to play for the Rochester Rhinos.
