
The Carolina RailHawks and the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team played to a 2-1 result on Tuesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. RailHawks goals from Aaron King and Leo Osaki led a squad comprised of RailHawks professional players and U-18 Capital Area RailHawks Academy players to the victory. Midfielder Ian Harkes scored the U.S. U-20 Men's National lone goal on an assist from C.A. RailHawks defender Connor Donovan.
In all, 11 C.A. RailHawks Academy players took the field at WakeMed Soccer Park. Nine played for the RailHawks (defenders DJ Mason and Harry Morton, midfielders Cody Brinkman, Steve Megaloudis, Dominic Jensen and forwards Andre Fortune and William Ramirez) and two played for the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team (defenders Connor Donovan and Caleb Duvernay).
King put the RailHawks on the board first when he recognized the U-20 MNT keeper off his line and unleashed a 50-yard shot that gave the goalkeeper little chance before striking the back of the net. Follow the RailHawks twitter and facebook for video of the goalazo.
The second half started with a RailHawks goal from Osaki who finished off a cross for the 2-0 lead. The U-20 MNT pulled back a goal when Donovan broke down the left flank, cut back the defender and crossed the ball into Harkes. The Wake Forest midfielder beat the RailHawks defender and slotted the shot past RailHawks' Scott Goodwin.
The U.S. U-20's will face off against the RailHawks U-23's on Thursday, May 22nd at WakeMed Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00pm.
