The Carolina RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park this Sunday, March 8th for the 7th Annual Hilton Garden Inn Durham Southpoint Community Shield Match against Seoul E-Land FC from South Korea. Kickoff for the Community Shield Match is set for 3:00pm ET. Get your tickets here.
The newly-formed club from South Korea's largest city has signed several young and talented players, as well as MLS-veterans, Carlyle Deon Mitchel (Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Edmonton), and former Real Salt Lake and San Jose Earthquakes forward, Ryan Johnson. Seoul E-Land FC is coached by former Carolina RailHawks Coach Martin Rennie.
“The RailHawks are one of the premier franchises in North America and I know that being hosted by the RailHawks will ensure that my new team will be well taken care of,” said Seoul E-Land Head Coach Martin Rennie. “I also know that spending time in the Triangle will be a great experience for my staff and players.”
The RailHawks have organized this preseason friendly to get an early start to the new NASL season. RailHawks fans will be raring to see an overhauled side from last season's team with all the new signings that Colin Clarke has made. Goalkeepers Hunter Gilstrap and Brian Sylvestre, defender Mamadou “Futty” Danso, midfielders Neil Hlavaty, Mark Anderson, Wells Thompson, and Chris Nurse and forward Simone Bracalello will look to make their mark for the new roster.
“Sunday is going to be an important match for us because it will give us an idea of where we are mentally and physically,” said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clarke. “We will try to start the preseason strong and to put on a good performance for our fans.”
The 7th Annual Hilton Garden Inn Durham Southpoint Community Shield Match against Seoul E-Land FC will be included in the RailHawks Season Ticket Package.
