CARY, N.C. (Aug. 5, 2019) – North Carolina Football Club has named North Carolina FC U23 player Robert Screen the winner of the 2019 Farouk Bseiso Award for his exemplary dedication and commitment to the success of the NCFC U23 program during the 2019 season. The award honors the legacy of former NCFC U23 player Farouk Bseiso, who passed away in 2014.
Bseiso played with the club’s U23 squad for three years, including the 2011 USASA U-23 championship team. He was also a four-year letter winner with the NC State men’s soccer program from 2008-11 and served as a team captain of the Wolfpack in 2011.
Screen, a product of the NCFC Youth Academy and a Raleigh native, was recognized at halftime of the NCFC-Indy Eleven match at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park on Aug. 3.
Screen, who is entering his sophomore season at the University of Kentucky, played a crucial role in the midfield for NCFC U23, as the team finished in second place in the South Atlantic Division. Screen finished with a team-high five goals in 13 matches and also led the team in minutes played (990). Throughout the summer, Screen has also spent time training with the NCFC senior team.
