CARY, NC (July 8, 2022) – Forward Shak Adams will join North Carolina FC on loan from the Charleston Battery of USL Championship, the club announced today.
“I can’t wait to get started here at North Carolina FC,” Adams said. “It’s going to be great being able to play in front of the fans and help the team continue to be successful and push us into the playoffs.”
The 23-year-old has collected nine appearances and 257 minutes of playing time for the Battery this season, appearing primarily as a winger and as a center forward, a versatile addition to the NCFC attack. Prior to his move to USL Championship in January 2022, Adams played with FC Tucson of USL League One, making 40 appearances across two seasons and the 2021 USL League One playoffs, scoring 11 goals, adding four assists and tallying 2,716 minutes of playing time.
A native of Nashville, TN, Adams played collegiately for Florida Gulf Coast University, spending four seasons with the Eagles – one of which he played with future NCFC teammate Raheem Somersall – scoring 23 goals, assisting 16 and registering 62 points and 51 shots on goal across 71 appearances. In the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, the midfielder was selected 54th overall by Nashville SC, also collecting ASUN First Team, ASUN All-Tournament and USC Atlantic All-Region following his senior campaign.
“I am excited to welcome Shak into the group for the remainder of the 2022 season,” said Head Coach John Bradford. “He was a player that we went after in the offseason, and I’m glad that [NCFC] will ultimately be a place where he can continue to develop. Shak’s attacking abilities, athleticism, and mentality will be a great addition to our team. We appreciate Charleston Battery’s effort on this loan and wish them the best for the remainder of the 2022 season.”
